So we had a huge blizzard last week that covered us in 12 inches of snow. Now that we finally got it all cleaned up, it snowed again this morning. Ordinarily, this would not be a problem, but I promised my husband that I'd go to the butcher and get a pork butt roast for supper. I didn't want to disappoint him, so I tried to drive my little front-wheel drive car through the snow (they decided not to plow, I guess) to get it. Hey, at 99 cents a pound, I could hardly pass it up!
Problem was, I had no good recipes for how to cook it in a slow cooker for shredded pork sandwiches. So I improvised--I mixed a bottle of barbecue sauce with a can of beer and some brown sugar in the crock pot and decided to cook it that way. Let's hope it turns out--I hate it when I experiment in the kitchen and it doesn't work out right.
Since it's so yucky outside right now, I'm debating on whether or not we should go anywhere tonight. It might be a good night to just stay in and hang out and do laundry. I could make my toffee, I suppose. Every year I make it for my family and friends and it's always a huge hit. Maybe that's what I'll do...toffee is always a fun project. Anyone have any great ideas for stuff to do when it's snowing outside and you can't get out?

Welcome to my Blog!
Let me start out with a little introduction to myself...I'm a college-educated 28-year old woman, happily married and living in a small town where most of the women are SAHMs. When I got married, I had problems finding a job in my field that was permanent, so I took temp work and just kept looking. I never had the "urge" to have kids and we never had an "oops" and after being married for a good 4 years, we decided to remain permanently child-free.
Let me explain something else--my husband has a great job that pays very well and we live in an older house that has a VERY low mortgage payment. Therefore, we aren't reliant on my income whatsoever. Our monthly expenses are very low, so I don't "have" to work. I now have a part-time job, about 16 hours a week, that takes up some of my free time, but other than that, I am completely free to do anything I want. And how do I choose to spend my time? Well, I have the luxury to bake, cook my husband gourmet meals, do all the laundry, dishes, etc., knit, surf the internet, work out, go shopping, play with my dog, and most importantly, have lots of uninterrupted sex.
In my blog, I will attempt to describe what life is like when you get to stay at home and take care of the house with no kids in the way to take care of. If you want tips on how to possibly reduce your expenses so you too can be a SAHW, I'd be happy to help out. I am aware that my lifestyle isn't realistic for everyone, but I know people like to dream and I think a lot of people aren't aware of the fact that this lifestyle really can exist. Many women believe that they HAVE to have kids, but if you don't want to have them, you can enjoy all sorts of extra freedoms and disposable income. I look forward to reading everyone's comments and I hope to update frequently!
